Tarrazú is the most prized coffee growing region of central Costa Rica. Situated in the Talamanca Sierra Mountain range, with its high altitude, warm days and cold nights, bean maturation is slow. Typically producing a sweet dense bean; predominantly Caturra and Catuaí varietals.
Co-op Tarrazú, founded in 1960, provides nurseries, agronomy support and training plus a whole host of services. Coffee pulp is converted into organic fertiliser, coffee trees are given to farmers to maintain crop health, and power for the office is generated from solar panels.
We are delighted to offer this coffee from the San Francisco community. They are located in San Francisco de León Cortes, and consist of many farms between 1700 to 1950 MASL. Harvest begins in November with processing at the Co-op Tarrazú.
