Decaf Honduras Mountain Water Processed
This coffee comes from approximately 300 COAGRICSAL (Agricultural Cooperative Cafetalera San Antonio Limited) producers who contributed to the Corozal collection center in Corozal, Trinidad, Santa Bárbara. The coffee is grown between 900-1250m and then, after harvesting, it is washed and dried—20 percent by producers on their own property, 30 percent on patios at the mill and approximately 50 percent in machine driers.
COARGICSAL is an organization of coffee, cocoa and pepper producers that was formed in 1998 with 32 members. The group has since grown to more than 1,500 member families and continues to grow each year. The organization is committed to social and environment standards, and in the interests of its member’s families, it has worked to create jobs and social projects including community center projects, water projects, school maintenance, and the building of community centers, police stations and access roads. The cooperative proudly meets Organic, Fairtrade, Coffee Practices and Utz certifications, and offers guaranteed traceability and transparency into its administrative and financial management.
Caffeine is removed by cleaning and hydrating with local water, before the caffeine ventures out of the beans towards a Green Coffee Extract (GCE) which has been introduced to the mix. The caffeine and GCE flow through carbon filters until all the caffeine is trapped and separated from the GCE which will then be re-used to remove caffeine from more beans.
What you are left with is coffee which is 99.9% caffeine free and 100% flavour-full!
Team Bean challenge you to do a bit of blind tasting and see if you can pick out this decaf from other fully caffeinated brews.
